Italy’s Sara Errani completed a career Golden Slam by winning Olympic gold in the women’s doubles. She and her partner beat a Russian duo competing as Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN) in a match that went to three sets. This victory marked Italy’s first Olympic tennis gold in history. Errani had previously won multiple Grand Slam titles with her previous doubles partner. Playing alongside her partner, who had a successful season reaching the finals in consecutive tournaments, Errani showed great skill at the net. She achieved this milestone at the age of 37, the same day as another prominent tennis player.
